First UK edition, first printing published by The Readers Library, (undated 1927, Copyright edition, with no mention of 'Metropolis' in the list of other titles by the publisher at the front of the book as called for.) 

Condition: Good. 250pp, with Editor's note referencing the upcoming (and soon to be immortalised)  Fritz Lang film production, which was to become one of the most iconic films in the history of Cinema influencing future classics such as STAR WARS and BLADE RUNNER. Original burgandy cloth with gilt stamped tooling and decoration to upper board and spine as with all Readers Library titles. Corners are rubbed, scuffing to spine tips and along hinge lengths, spine has dulled with a couple of marks, gilt stamping to upper baord much brighter. The pages are uniformly toned, the binding is holding firm, no cracking to the inner hinges which is common for this cheaply produced series. An average copy of this sci-fi masterpiece. The book comes with a quality facsimile of the rare dustjacket.
