Beautiful Isbister publisher's device blind stamped to the lower board. Titles are gilt stamped to the spine. Corners are scuffed, spine tips also lightly rubbed/scuffed. The boards are very clean indeed, the spine is entirely unfaded, the gilt titles are bright and fresh, top edge of the block gilted, remaining block has some foxing. Foxing to prelims and corresponding page edges otherwise tightly bound and very clean, front hinge has cracked slightly, binding holding very firm.

Brother of the prolific Spook Story author E F Benson and A C Benson, R H Benson's only collection of Ghost Stories is covered in all major genre bibliographies. Mystical apparitions, diabolic cat visions, Scandinavian Paganism and Devil Worship abound albeit wrapped in the spiritual and sentimental cloak of a clergyman. A scarce and attractive volume.
