Occult, Supernatural Novel conceived when Maugham roomed with Aliester Crowley in Paris (Imagine sharing a flat with The Beast?)….Maugham based his protagonist Oliver Haddo on elements of Crowley and Oscar Wilde. Astral Bodies, Black Magic, Occult Lunacy, Revenge and Murder. Oxford Grad Haddo’s maniacal aim is to manufacture ‘Homunculi’ which will essentially make him God Like…it doesn't work out. This first printing is pretty scarce, the odd binding I have never seen before?
