Vg: Variant Binding in Slate Blue cloth with Gilt stamped titles to spine, blind stamped borders to boards and blind designs to the spine. Light rubbing to the corners and along hinge lengths, light scuffs to spine tips, a few surface marks to the cloth otherwise clean, titles are reasonably bright. Occult, Supernatural Novel conceived when Maugham roomed with Aliester Crowley in Paris (Imagine sharing a flat with The Beast?)….Maugham based his protagonist Oliver Haddo on elements of Crowley and Oscar Wilde. Astral Bodies, Black Magic, Occult Lunacy, Revenge and Murder. Oxford Grad Haddo’s maniacal aim is to manufacture ‘Homunculi’ which will essentially make him God Like…it doesn't work out. This first printing is pretty scarce, the odd binding I have never seen before?
